Discover Colour Therapy and its Healing Power

Colour therapy is a form of alternative therapy, also known as Chromotherapy. It uses the senses to balance the body, providing an opportunity to heal on its own.

Colours play an extremely important role in the design of our contemporary rugs, as our products are not only meant to embellish a home, but also to improve people’s quality of life.

We truly believe in the healing power of colours and we invite you to learn, through this article, more about chromotherapy and ways for you to add more colour in your life.

How colour therapy works

How colour therapy works?

Chromotherapy has roots in Indian medicine (Ayurveda), ancient Egyptian culture and traditional Chinese healing. Colour therapy works on various energy points to help balance your body and mind through the full spectrum of visible light, each colour addressing a distinct need. It can help fighting depression and anxiety and it can also play an important part in the healing process of a disease.

How each colour helps you?

The most powerful of colour, red, stimulates, instigates and energizes. It is used to treat anemia, inflammation, respiratory conditions, and depression.

Orange stimulates gastric secretions and digestion and, at the same time, can increase the appetite for people with digestive disorders. It also accelerates the pulse, treats asthma and epilepsy, as well as spasmophilia and stress.

Yellow is the colour of spirituality, self-knowledge and favours the body’s self-healing. It allows us to relax, penetrating the depths of consciousness and balancing the body’s energy. It can treat migraines, liver conditions, diabetes, skin conditions and digestive disorders.

Green balances us. Looking at this colour during chromotherapy sessions helps us achieve balance, both internally and externally. It calms hypertension and cardiac disorders, treats insomnia and neuralgia. Recent therapies also used it for cancer. It is the colour of hope, optimism and returning to origins.

The most “serene” colour, blue, primarily has a visible calming role. It induces inner peace, facilitates meditation and objective analysis of reality. It lowers the tension, calms the breathing and reduces the pulse.

Indigo is the colour obtained by mixing red and blue. It mainly treats conditions located in the head and upper respiratory tract: sinusitis, pneumonia, eye and ear conditions, facial paralysis and cough.

Violet, the colour of the spirit. Along with yellow, purple mainly affects the balance between the psyche and the body. It is a deep, full colour that offers the opportunity for complex therapy. Treats mental disorders and purifies the body in case of infections or toxicity.

You could also choose a new shade for the walls. But hear us out: why not use a luxury wall hanging rug? Modern rugs are a fantastic way to upgrade your interior, whether you choose to use it on the floor or as contemporary wall art. Hanging rugs as wall art is a fantastic way to inject colour at eye level and to add texture to your space.

Create a cosy corner for yourself, to read, listen to music or meditate in your home. Use a lovely small rug or a medium rug in shades of green, blue and yellow to help you relax better. Also, a lovely purple rug would be a great option to help you release the stress.

If you feel like you’re lacking energy, you could use a bold rug with shades of red in your home office (or office). Strong colours will help you focus better on your work, as they are such great stimulants for the brain.
