New Designer Rug Launch 2024: The Scribble Ink Rug
We are thrilled to introduce the latest addition to our collection of vibrant contemporary rugs, new for April 2024: The Scribble Ink Rug.
The Inspiration
Sonya’s inspiration for the unique Scribble Rug collection emerged following the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions in the UK. As the world began to open up again, Sonya experienced a renewed sense of excitement and spontaneity. Particularly at being able to travel – a luxury that she and many others took for granted before the pandemic.
This newfound, unfamiliar freedom felt worldwide ignited Sonya’s desire to diverge from her carefully structured and orchestrated designs. She aimed to create a design representing fluidity, movement, freedom, and spontaneity. The result was a modern irregular-shaped rug called The Scribble Rug.
The Design
The Colours
Unlike the original Scribble Rug, this new ‘Ink’ colourway features a rich palette of dark blues, purples, and electric orange. Sonya selected these hues to evoke depth, intrigue, and captivating vibrancy, drawing the eye and sparking the imagination.
The deep blues in this luxury rug inspire calmness and serenity, while lighter shades hint at the boundless sky and sea. They symbolise freedom and possibility, inspiring reflection on limitless opportunities.
Beyond its sophisticated surface allure, this creative rug’s regal purple colours hold an emotional intensity, adding a layer of complexity to the rug’s narrative and inviting contemplation as you delve deeper into the layers of the design. It stands as a testament to the richness of human experience and the endless possibilities of self-expression.
Then there’s the electric orange – a bold accent in the 2024 luxury rug design. Its lively presence amidst the tapestry of colours on the abstract rug infuses it with vitality and optimism, symbolising the collective feelings of the world following the pandemic. As a beacon of such enthusiasm, electric orange adds a vibrant contrast to the deeper, more introspective tones of the artistic rug, creating a dynamic interplay of emotions and energies.

GoodWeave artisan weavers hand tuft the Scribble Ink Rug in pure 100% New Zealand wool. Like all modern rugs in our Vibrant Contemporary Collection, we can also make the Scribble Ink rug hand-knotted. We meticulously complete each stage of the Scribble Ink Rug by hand to create the ultimate irregular-shaped rug for your space.
