Sonya Winner Rug Studio is a small award-winning luxury design studio creating graphic, vibrant and highly original contemporary rugs that transform a space with their positive vibrant colours and bold designs. The business (based in London NW5) has grown quickly in the last year, so it is an exciting time to join our small, dynamic, fun and creative team. We pride ourselves in developing close relationships with our customers resulting with more than 35% repeat purchases. We sell online (90% of sales) and also in our beautiful designer showroom to end customers and interior designers. Our main focus is selling online to end user driven by organic search, social media activity, press features and online advertising.

Work environment
Our airy and spacious light-filled studio/showroom is located in a quiet village backwater close to Hampstead Heath, independent shops and cafes, the Tube and Overground. Our ergonomic design studio at the back of the showroom has a fully equipped kitchen, a shower for running or cycling to work and 2 laidback, loving hypoallergenic studio dogs!


Senior Graphic Designer  

Role Overview:

We are looking for a Senior Graphic Designer who is excited to take ownership of the key responsibilities for the varied design work at the studio. This can be a full time or ¾ day role based in our North London studio/showroom.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Website Design: Design a re-fresh of our website working directly with our coders.
2) Creating a high end printed Coffee Table Book: Designing a book about the business, our weavers, the rug collection and our customers homes in print and also as an online book.
3) Rug Artworks and Design work: Working closely with the Creative Director to assist in the process of designing new rugs. This includes creating initial sketches, developing designs, creating the artwork and picking wool colour poms.
4) Photoshoots: Planning photoshoots – finding locations and interesting props, planning the set up of shots and Art Directing the photoshoots alongside our creative director.
5) Photo editing and Creating Content for Social Media: Retouching and cropping images from photoshoots to create content for social media. Planning and Art Directing of social media post schedule and formulising a strategy with assistance from our online consultants
6) Creating Digital Visualisations for Clients: Digitally dropping in rug designs into client images.
7) Blogs and E-Newsletters: Design layout and content for Blogs and E-Newsletters

8) Layout of print Ads and other print material: Creating adverts for magazines and web including google ads to be posted by our external marketing support team. Designing and ordering branded company business cards, stationary, postcards, brochures etc

Qualifications required:
  • BA or equivalent in Graphic Communication Design/Graphic Design/Visual Communication
  • Minimum 3+ years work experience with at least 2 years in one role/business
Skills Required:
  •  Apple Mac fluency
  • Deep knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign
  • Knowledge/experience of retouching (use of a digital camera/photography skills a bonus)
  • Web design and UX skills with experience using XD a bonus
  • Kalyivo/Mailchimp Knowledge
  • Highly organised and able to follow studio processes
  • Able to take ownership of tasks handed over and responsible for completing in timely manner
  • Self checking own work before marking as complete/moving onto next task
  • Good eye for detail and enjoy working with colour
  • Fluent in English – spoken and written

Studio Office Manager  

Job Role Overview:

This is a hands-on role working alongside the Operations Manager (recently promoted from Studio Manager) with a variation of tasks predominantly consisting of admin, IT, and general assistance to the running of the day-to-day studio. You will have at least 3-5 year’s experience in a similar role and will be highly organised and reliable, proactive and efficient. We are looking for someone with an eagerness to learn who wants to progress onto the next level of their career where they can take ownership of their responsibilities.

Studio/ Showroom tasks

  • Creating price lists
  • Creating clientpresentations
  • Updating Studio “how to” video guides
  • Keeping online files, folders and databases up to date and very well organised
  • Assisting with planning of photoshoots and on location

Production Tasks:

  • Adding information to artworks and checking accuracy
  • Updating and organising Google Drive shared with manufactures
  • Updating excel/google sheets
  • Creating instructions for improvements and corrections to send to manufactures

Rug Stock Management tasks

  • Conducting twice a year stock takes
  • Maintaining accurate website stock levels on excel and website
  • Receiving rug shipments – checking delivery notes – inspecting and instructing labelling

Shipping tasks

  • Booking shipments and creating paperwork using My DHL
  • Trouble shooting any delivery issues
  • Monitoring orders and updating back end of website

Customer Communication:

  • Booking showroom appointments
  • Following up with leads and updating CRM
  • Taking payments
  • Helping showroom customers choose their purchases

WordPress/ WooCommerce Website/ Social Media Management

  • Creating product pages for new products (training provided)
  • Overseeing Social Media Plan and ensuring posts go out on time

Skills Required

  • 3-5 years in a similar role with references
  • Fluent English, strong writing and verbal
  • Full right to work in the UK
  • Extremely well organised and good attention to detail.
  • Reliable and punctual, with excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Apple Mac, Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Google sheets experience
  • Knowledge of Google drive
  • Knowledge of Adobe Suite (basic or more)
