Colour Wheel Rug
This dynamic floor rug or wall hanging takes inspiration from the iconic form of a color wheel, providing a bold injection of color to any home. Sonya has expertly manipulated the traditional segments of the color wheel through overlapping and layering hues to create something altogether more exciting. The resulting form consists of energetic swatches of vibrant color from all areas of the color spectrum which are held together in a vortex, creating movement and depth.
This vibrancy is punctuated by a stark white core at the centre of the rug, intensifying the effect of the surrounding colors. Sonya’s complex layering of color is further emphasized by the varying pile heights and hand carving of the rug which gives the piece a sculptural quality.
