Product description

The Kandinsky Collection is a series of 3 colourful art rugs which feature painterly circular motifs woven in hand-dyed 100% New Zealand wool yarn which pay homage to Wassily Kandinsky’s vibrant palette and style.

Sonya’s love for art has always been a great inspiration during her design process. Sonya aims to capture not only the essence of Kandinsky’s artistic legacy but also to infuse the rug with a contemporary design that allows you to transform conventional floor space into functional art underfoot.

Wassily Kandinsky was a Russian painter and art theorist who played a crucial role in the development of abstract art during the early 20th century. He believed that art should express the artist’s inner emotions and spiritual essence rather copying the external world around them. This is what lead him to create work where colours and shapes interact with each other, producing a sense of movement and energy. He used bold, contrasting colours and geometric forms to convey his intense emotions provoking a powerful response from the viewer.

The Kandinsky collection features 3 unique hand knotted rug designs titled Kandinsky 1, Kandinsky 2 and Kandinsky 3, each in varying colours and styles.

The Kandinsky rugs are a limited edition of 10 pieces. Each provided with a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity. The first piece of each design with be sold at an 20% discount. Please enquire here to learn more.
